Problem
Rust server owners face two challenges: distinctive mechanics that keep players engaged, and the repetitive work of server administration. Off-the-shelf plugins often address one while ignoring the other. Owners who need both end up combining conflicting plugins or looking for a developer.
The difference here is that this is a product rather than a client project: you identify the need yourself, and the work pays off only when people choose to buy it.
Solution
I developed five commercial Rust server plugins and published them on Codefling. Written in C# for the Oxide/uMod ecosystem, some extend game mechanics while others automate server administration workflows.
Commercial plugins have different technical requirements from client projects. Installation must work across server configurations, configuration needs documentation, and each plugin must survive game updates. Development therefore continues for as long as the product is sold.
Result
The plugins reached more than 1,000 sales and 50,000 product views in their first year. All remain available, maintained and generating sales, continuously since 2022.
